Indian media giant Viacom18 launched on Wednesday Voot Kids as the nation’s first multi-format children’s app that delivers education and entertainment on one platform. Certified by the Early Childhood Association (ECA), the subscription app is available on both Android and ios and offers 20,000 videos, eBooks, stories and quizzes that the company says have been tailor-made for children aged 2 to 8.

In its official press release, Viacom18 claimed that Voot Kids content was created in collaboration with major brands including Nickelodeon, Oxford University Press, Warner Media, Green Gold, Ceebeebies, TV Asahi, Sony Music, Hasbro, Mattel , Lego and Suite. The app will feature cartoons, preschool content, learning shows, visual e-books, audio stories, fun quizzes and more as part of its main motto of ‘masti mein achhai’ (translated by Viacom18 as “Goodness while having fun”).

Being a kids app, Voot Kids will offer parental controls to allow parents and guardians to not only monitor and specify what kind of content their kids can access, but also limit viewing time as they see fit. According to the company, the app will allow children to listen, read, see and learn, improving their communication skills and logical thinking.

According to CEO and Managing Director of Viacom Group18, Sudhanshu Vats, “Voot Kids is the first and only multi-format children’s app in India offering fun and learning. No other children’s app offers to watch, read, listen and learn in one place ”. It will be a subscription service, costing Rs. 99 per month or Rs. 799 per year. While monthly subscribers will get a 7-day trial, annual subscribers will get 30 days of free subscription.
