ITV has announced that Catchphrase will be its first entertainment show to start filming after the coronavirus lockdown.

The game show will begin filming the week of July 6 without an audience and with new safe protocols.

Ten episodes of the program will be recorded, to be broadcast on ITV and STV during the fall.

The set will be altered to allow for social distancing, while there will also be changes to the galleries and makeup room, while attendees will need to complete health declaration forms online.

Gary Chippington, Creative Director of Entertainment at STV Productions, which directs the show, said, “The well-being of our staff and contributors is our priority and the production team has worked tirelessly to ensure that we all work in a safe environment.

“A number of measures have been put in place and social distancing will be respected – but there is no doubt that the fun and antics that viewers expect from every episode of Catchphrase will be at the heart of the mix. We are delighted to be back in the studio.

There will be staggered start times and changes in catering, while the crew will maintain social distancing, and contributors and crew will all have their temperatures checked daily throughout the filming period.

Studios and filming areas will be cleaned daily and equipment will be allocated to each member of the team, while “bubble” working groups will also be set up.
